Foghorn- February 28, 2008 meeting
FOGHORN
February 28, 2008
Bernie Scott, guest editor
Julie Wozniak, scribe
Bernie graciously filled in as guest editor for Julie Wozniak, who was filling in for Carolyn Saxton. Julie felt bad for arriving very late to the meeting and volunteered to transcribe his notes
The meeting of the Michigan City Rotary Club will be held at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts, 101 W. 2nd Street. Rotarians should come in through the front entrance and will be directed to the appropriate room.
Announcements
President Pat Boy called the meeting to order. Suzy Vance gave the invocation because planned invocator Julie Wozniak arrived just as the prayer was over. Susan Pound was the sarge.
- Pat mentioned the District World Affairs Conference on March 13th for high school students. The board is still trying to decide if our club will participate.
- John Regetz reminded Rotarians to get their potential members’ applications in.
- Julie informed STRIVE mentors about the weekend’s FAFSA seminar and asked that we pass on that information to our senior STRIVE students

- Ed Merrion won the Priebe Award for lateness.
- Susan administered a test on roses in honor of National Florists Day, and a few Rotarians came out smelling like roses with the correct answers
- Mij Ttocs’ student is looking for sponsors ($250) for the debutante Ball
- Dale paid for the beginning of spring, which was marked by the Cubs’ spring opener today.
- Kurt paid for Tom Keene who wasn’t with us today.
- Steve paid to remind us all about Carmina Burana this Saturday.
- Bernie had a few bucks for his granddaughter (see pic) who placed third in an art show and for Ed “Humanitarian of the Year” Merrion
- The Queen of Hearts eluded Sandy Smith in the drawing. The pot for the next meeting is $737! Rotarians, up your chance of winning by buying more than one ticket!
