Saturday, December 22nd the Michigan City Rotary Club raised a whopping total of $15,481.48 toward The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Goal of $65,000! As far as anyone can remember, this is an all time record for the Rotarians!
The Salvation Army’s overall Christmas Campaign Goal was $135,000 of which, thanks to the Michigan City Rotary Club, the Michigan City Lions Club and other service clubs, agencies and individuals, $127,000 was realized!
The Michigan City Lions Club, who rang bells on Saturday, December 15th, raised $10,842.74. The combined total raised by the two competing clubs was $26,324.22! This is wonderful news for The Salvation Army! It also means the Michigan City Lions Club must now grant custody of the coveted traveling Golden Bell trophy to the Rotary Club.
The spirited rivalry between the two clubs is highly commendable in that it not only raises much needed funds for The Salvation Army, but also creates a great deal of community awareness and support for efforts to provide a brighter holiday for the hundreds of deserving families in need. |
