Rotary License Plate

Did you know that the Michigan City Rotary Club Receives $15 for each Indiana Rotary Club License Plate ordered by our club members.

Not only are these plates raising dollars for our club to use in the communities, they are also moving billboards proudly showcasing Rotary's 100 years + of service and our motto of Service Above Self. The $25 application fee helps raise funds to ensure that every Rotary Club in Indiana can increase their charitable service to their communities or service projects. The Indiana Rotary License Plate program is unique in Indiana in that it is the only special group plate program set up with a rebate program to benefit all clubs in the state that have sales to their members.

Eyeglass Program Appreciated

Every meeting the Sarge col-lects $1.00 from each member to be used for eyeglasses for deserving students in the Michigan City Area School District.

Linda Bechinski who coordin-ates the program for the schools gave a presentation to the club in which she displayed a poem from one of the teachers, Mario Rosa. Here is the poem:

FUZZY LETTERS ON A WALL

Fuzzy letters on a wall,
tell me I can't see.
I wonder why my classmates laugh
when I'm so slow to speak and read.

It's not that I don't understand
and its not that I'm not up to speed
but I must admit that it's not a lots of fun
 when an
 S looks like a Z.

Today I went to see a doctor
who placed me in a chair
with lots of buttons, dials and things;
he treated me with great care.

So now I have new glasses
and things seem so much clearer than before.
I can read my Harry Potter
and oh so much, much more.

Thank you to the Rotary Club
for taking care of me.
You've made me very happy,
now that I can clearly see.

(Thank you from Mario Rosa, the MCAS English as a Second Language (ESL) staff, and especially from our ESL Kids!!!)
