STRIVEPartnership-Connection

Knowledge of success is one of the most important things that you can give to a student.

Mentoring is not for everyone, but for those who are willing to change, work smart and learn, the rewards are infinite.

We create one-on-one mentoring relationships and enrichment activities between adult volunteers and Michigan City public high school students to promote their academic, career and personal development.

STRIVE ?

A Mentoring Partnership Program between Michigan City Rotary Club and Michigan City High Schools. The scope of a STRIVE Partnership Connection is determined by each participant and what we are willing to share.

The sky is the limit!

A STRIVE Partnership Connection evolves one step at a time.  Take a first step.  As a Rotarian, give two hours of your time each month.  As a Student, accept a friendship with someone who can make a difference in your future.

Focus:

Working one-on-one with students in high school, we:

  • Instill in our students an expectation of graduation and commitment to continuing their education, and
  • Encourage them to be responsible and productive citizens.
  • We contribute to a thriving community by setting higher standards, developing innovative programs, and believing in ourselves and our students.

Student Commitment:

  • Attend school and class regularly
  • Maintain at least a "C" average - measured at the end of the first semester and each following quarter
  • Successfully pass all courses
  • Attendance at all STRIVE functions - with legitimate exceptions for verified illness and extra-curricular activity conflict.
Rotary Partner Commitment:
  • Building trust and excellence with student and caring about student
  • Attend Initial STRIVE Lunch with student at Rotary
  • Attend Year-End Celebration with student at Rotary
  • Attend STRIVE Breakfasts with student
  • Attend STRIVE Dinner Programs with student
  • Attend STRIVE special events.

Michigan City Rotary Commitment:

  • Provide financial bonuses for academic improvement - measured and awarded each semester.
  • Provide scholarships for college/trade school on selective basis
