President's Message

Fellow Rotarians:

Dear Rotary Club Members and Friends,

As we stand on the threshold of a new year, it is with great anticipation and enthusiasm that I extend warmest wishes to each and every one of you. The turning of the calendar not only marks the passage of time but also symbolizes new beginnings, fresh opportunities, and the promise of positive change.

In the spirit of Rotary's guiding principles—Service Above Self—we look back on the accomplishments of the past year with gratitude and look forward to the challenges and triumphs that lie ahead. Our collective efforts will continue to make a meaningful impact on our community, and we are proud of the positive change we have been able to initiate through our various projects and initiatives.

As we embrace the new year, let us renew our commitment to service, fellowship, and the ideals that define Rotary.  There will be multiple opportunities for each Rotary member to engage in service in the coming months.  Our community projects will include our review of applications and awarding of Rotary Scholarships, our Apple Dumpling reading program, and the initiation of our monthly “pop-up” service projects. In addition, we will be expanding the opportunities to perform club service by being a meeting coordinator, meeting greeter, host to our Students of Excellence, or being Ticket Taker at the meeting door.

May the coming year bring joy, prosperity, and good health to you and your loved ones. Let us be inspired by the Rotary motto—Service Above Self—as we work together to build a better world for all.

Happy New Year!

MATT KUBIK

This week's speaker is

Jeremy Rossi, Chief Operating Officer of Uptown Social

As the Chief Operating Officer of Uptown Social, Jeremy wears many hats to ensure the proper execution of daily operational procedures. No job is too big or too small!

Some of his key responsibilities include creating and implementing SOP’s, improving organizational functions, and creating/maintaining a team culture that values, recognizes and generates high performance, supports innovation and fosters growth.

Seeking to become a premier social spot in Michigan City, Uptown Social upholds a standard of excellence that cannot be superseded. Part of Jeremy’s job is to ensure that team members uphold that same standard of excellence in the workplace and in their daily lives, as they are the brand ambassadors of the organization.

Join Jeremy for an update on the upcoming events and its impact on the Uptown Arts District.
ISFR is Seeking Donations
As a board member of the Davis Boyd Memorial Foundation My annual ISFR International Skiing Fellowship of Rotarians, ski trip is Feb 3-10. And as is the Norm for Rotary we are seeking donations for our Adaptive Ski fundraiser where we fund the Mt Batchelor, near Bend Oregon, ski slope to take the challenge and physically disabled on a ski trip to improve their lives by teaching them to ski and/or motivating them with the beauty of skiing down a mountain on a special ski sled. I hope to ski in one day the 40,000 vertical feet for the Peak to Valley Challenge- 10 to 20 runs from top to bottom.

Consider donating using the fundraiser form available here.

Thank you,
Jim Scott
